Regime change will not happen in India, says RSS chief
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Tuesday alleged that forces seeking to destabilise India were working to weaken the country, but asserted that attempts at “regime change” would not succeed.
Addressing the RSS’s annual Vijayadashami gathering in Nagpur, Bhagwat said some ambitious political leaders were joining efforts that he claimed were aimed at dismantling India, Hindu society and the Sangh, The Hindustan Times reported.
“Due to petty power interests and a lack of wisdom, some ambitious leaders also get involved,” he said.
Bhagwat referred to political unrest in countries including Bangladesh, Nepal, France and Albania, arguing that forces driven by their own interests sought to alter political systems and install people who would serve their agendas.
“They say that ‘regime change’ will change the situation, but it has never happened before, and it is not happening today,” he said.
The RSS chief claimed that India’s growing global influence had made it a target for forces seeking to weaken the country. He credited what he described as strong policies, leadership and growing national awareness for India’s progress.
