Dussehra marks end of tyranny, terror, says PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said Dussehra marks the end of tyranny and terror and reflects the enduring belief in the triumph of truth over falsehood, as he addressed Vijayadashami celebrations in Delhi.
Addressing the event organised by the Shri Ramlila Committee Indraprastha at IP Extension in east Delhi, Modi extended his greetings to the people on the occasion and invoked Lord Ram, Mata Janaki and Bajrangbali.
“Today, every corner of India is imbued with the spirit of Lord Ram, in every village and every city. The entire nation is immersed in the spirit of the Ramlila,” the prime minister said.
Modi said Ramlila performances across the country help keep alive the ideals and teachings of Lord Ram. He described Vijayadashami as a proclamation of the end of tyranny and terror and a testament to the belief in the victory of eternal truth over falsehood.
Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is celebrated to mark Lord Ram’s victory over Ravana and symbolises the triumph of good over evil. The festival is observed across the country through Ramlila performances and the burning of effigies of Ravana, Meghnad and Kumbhakarna.
