CJP announces ‘Lehra do Tiranga’ protest in Delhi on Friday

Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has announced a fresh protest in Delhi on October 16 under the slogan “Lehra do Tiranga”, following the detention of senior party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka.

The protest is scheduled to be held at Central Park in Connaught Place, according to a report by The Economic Times.

The announcement comes amid a standoff between the CJP and Delhi Police over access to Jantar Mantar, which has been de-notified as a designated protest site.

Das and Ranka were sent to five days’ judicial custody on Wednesday after allegedly entering the Jantar Mantar premises and unfurling the national flag. Another CJP leader, Ajinkya Shinde, was released on a personal bond.

Dipke, who returned to Delhi on Wednesday after attending his grandmother’s funeral in Maharashtra, criticised the custody of his colleagues and questioned whether unfurling the Tricolour could be treated as a crime.

The CJP has been protesting against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and raising concerns over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The latest protest call comes amid a wider opposition campaign against the Election Commission and alleged irregularities in the electoral process.
