Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday asked authorities to provide the INDIA bloc protesters with an alternative location in Delhi if they were not allowed to continue their sit-in at the present spot near Akashvani Bhavan.

“If they don't want us to sit here, give us another place in Delhi. We will sit there comfortably and continue our protest,” Gandhi said.

He said the Constitution allowed people to protest and asserted that the Opposition MPs would continue to seek a meeting with the Election Commissioners.

“We just want to meet the Election Commissioners and ask questions and tell them that they have done vote theft,” Gandhi said.

Gandhi, along with Congress leaders including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other INDIA bloc MPs, was protesting after police stopped their march towards the Election Commission office.

Gandhi also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat of having “destroyed democracy”. The Opposition has been demanding answers from the Election Commission over its allegations of irregularities in electoral rolls, including what it calls “vote theft”.

The Election Commission has rejected the Opposition's allegations.
