“Chinese troops entered 40-50km into Indian territory”: Arunachal Congress chief
Arunachal Pradesh Congress president and former state education minister Bosiram Siram has alleged that Chinese troops have moved 40 to 50 kilometres inside Indian territory in Upper Subansiri district, and called for a high-level inquiry into the reported incursions.
According to a report by Times of India, Siram made the allegations on Monday after leading a Congress delegation on a visit to border areas between August 26 and 29. The delegation, which included Congress working president and former home minister Tanga Byaling and Upper Subansiri MP Jarodum Kri, travelled through Nacho, Limeking and Taksing and interacted with local residents.
According to Siram, residents reported confrontations between Indian and Chinese troops during the last week of July, including physical scuffles and clashes involving sticks. He claimed Indian forces had responded to the alleged aggressive actions by Chinese troops.
He also alleged that the activities of China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) had restricted residents' access to areas traditionally used for yak herding, hunting and collecting forest produce. He said the reported restrictions were affecting local livelihoods and movement along the frontier.
Siram questioned the dismissal of concerns raised by border residents and demanded an impartial investigation to establish the facts. The allegations of a 40-50 km incursion and the reported July clashes have not been independently verified.
